Alternative Dispute Resolution

Alternative Dispute Resolution

Many business agreements now include a requirement that, in the event of a dispute, the parties engage in arbitration before a single arbitrator or panel of arbitrators. In addition, many state and federal courts require the parties to engage in mediation before a private neutral or judge acting in that capacity, in an attempt to resolve the case without the need for a trial. Our attorneys have significant experience with these alternative means for resolving disputes outside of traditional litigation in state or federal court. We enjoy working with our clients to develop creative strategies for achieving effective and efficient results in these contexts. Jim Smith is a very experienced mediator and arbitrator who has chaired our federal court dispute resolution program.
